For practitioners
The Approved Facilitator Agreement
Founding group, version 1.0, 28 September 2026
This agreement will be finalised after legal review before the first facilitator is certified.
Every Approved Facilitator signs this agreement. It is written in plain English so it can be read in one sitting. It sits alongside The Architect's terms of use and privacy policy.
1. Who this agreement is between
This agreement is between Athanatos Press Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom, which publishes the work of Michael Lauria as The Architect ("The Architect", "we", "us"), and the person accepted into the Approved Facilitator programme ("you", "the facilitator").
It applies from the day you sign it, alongside The Architect's terms of use and privacy policy. Where this agreement and the terms of use differ on something about the programme, this agreement wins.
2. Words used here
- The tools: the Atlas, the Thread and the Witness, and anything they produce.
- A client: a person you invite to use the tools as part of your work with them.
- A Record: the written account the Atlas produces at the end of a sitting. A Thread report is the report the Thread produces at the end of its five sessions.
- The Seals: The Architect's published standard for every output of the tools and for every facilitator's use of them.
- A practice seat: your monthly subscription as a certified facilitator.
3. The title and how you may use it
Once certified, and for as long as your status is current, you may call yourself an Approved Facilitator of The Architect's Atlas, Thread and Witness, and use the Approved Facilitator mark we supply, in the form we supply it.
- Describe the title accurately. It means you have completed the work yourself, passed the assessment, and agreed to this standard. It says nothing about your wider professional qualifications.
- Do not say or suggest that The Architect has accredited, licensed or registered you, or that you are a certified therapist on The Architect's behalf. The Architect is not a regulator and grants no professional licence.
- Keep using your own true professional titles, and only those you hold.
- Do not present Michael Lauria or The Architect as endorsing you personally or your practice. Your own name leads in your practice.
- Do not present the tools as you, as a version of Michael Lauria, or as a therapist.
- When your status ends or is suspended, stop using the title and the mark within 14 days, including on your website and in printed material.
4. What the tools are, and what they are not
The Atlas, the Thread and the Witness are tools for reflection and pattern work. They are not therapy, diagnosis or treatment, and they do not assess, monitor or treat any health condition.
- You make every decision about your work with a client: whether to suggest the tools, what to work on, and what happens next. The AI never makes a therapeutic decision, and you do not ask it to.
- You read and consider anything the tools produce before you use it with a client, and you use it only as material for your own professional judgement.
- You do not describe the tools to anyone as therapy, as a replacement for therapy, as a diagnostic or clinical assessment, or as suitable for crisis.
- Every client is told that the tools are AI. You do not hide it or blur it.
- No paid offer is made to a client inside a passage or session, and you do not ask for one to be.
5. Prerequisites, certification and renewal
- Before certification you complete the Atlas and the Thread yourself, on your own account.
- You complete the six online modules: the method; reading a Record; the Seals and scope; crisis routing; consent; working alongside the Thread and the Witness.
- You submit the assessment: three case readings, a short recorded mock session, and the scope and crisis tests. The crisis test has a pass mark of 100 percent and may be retaken. For the founding group, Michael Lauria reviews every assessment personally.
- Status lasts one year from certification. To renew, you complete six hours of approved learning in the year and submit one case for review, and you confirm that your insurance and professional standing are current.
- Any case you submit for review is anonymised, and used only with the client's written consent.
6. Client consent and data
Clients own what they write in the tools, and what the tools produce for them. They create and hold their own accounts.
- By default you see only a client's status: that they were invited, started and finished, and the dates.
- A Record, a Thread report, Witness summaries or session transcripts come to you only when the client chooses to share them, one level at a time. Transcripts are shared session by session, never in bulk.
- A client can withdraw any sharing at any time, and your access ends at once. Copies you have already saved are yours to hold under your own record-keeping duties; you delete them when those duties allow, and you never use them for anything else.
- You never ask a client for their login, and you never use their account.
- What a client shares with you is sensitive personal information, and in many places it is health data. For what you receive, you are responsible under the data protection laws where you practise (in the UK and EU, UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, as a controller in your own right). You keep it secure, use it only for your work with that client, and tell us within 72 hours if it is lost or reached by someone who should not have it.
- You do not put client material from the tools into other AI systems, marketing tools or mailing lists.
- You sign the data processing terms we provide before your first client invitation. They form part of this agreement.
7. Crisis and safety
- The tools are not for crisis, and you do not use them with a client who is in crisis.
- Your own professional duty of care applies in full. If a client discloses risk to themselves or anyone else, you act on it under your own duty and your local emergency routes, as you would without the tools.
- The tools have a fixed response that points people to local help when risk appears. It is a signpost and never a safety service, and you do not rely on it in place of your own judgement.
- If you learn that the tools have responded to a client in a way that could cause harm, you tell us within 24 hours at signal@codexofthearchitect.com.
8. Fees and payment
- Founding group fee: $900, paid once, before the modules open. It covers the modules and the assessment. Refunds are handled under The Architect's terms of use.
- Practice seat: $49 a month from certification, billed monthly in advance. It includes unlimited client invitations, your client list, one Thread place a month for a client, and a reduced Witness rate for your clients. You can cancel at any time and the seat runs to the end of the month you have paid for.
- Further Thread places are available to you at the wholesale rate shown in your practice seat.
- You may set what your client pays you for a Thread place, but never less than the public price of the Thread at the time. You do not resell the tools to anyone outside your own work with clients.
- The Atlas is free to everyone, your clients included. You do not charge a client for access to the Atlas itself.
- Neither side pays or accepts a fee for referring a client. The Architect pays no commission for clients, and you do not take one.
- Prices are in US dollars and do not include any taxes that apply where you are. We give at least 30 days' notice of any change to the seat price.
9. Insurance, your professional body and the law where you practise
- You hold professional indemnity insurance suitable for your practice, including your use of the tools, for as long as you hold the title, and you show us proof when asked.
- You follow the code of your own professional body, if you belong to one, and the law where you practise. Where anything in this agreement conflicts with either, you follow the stricter rule and tell us.
- You tell us within 14 days if a complaint against you is upheld by your professional body, or if your registration or insurance is suspended, restricted or ends.
10. Where the founding group is open
Facilitators licensed in US states that restrict the use of AI in therapy, including Illinois and Nevada, are not admitted to the founding group. If you hold such a licence, or a restriction like it comes to apply to you, tell us, and your status is paused until we agree it can lawfully continue.
11. Code of conduct
- Act in your client's interest, within your own competence, and within the scope in section 4.
- Tell every client what the tools are, that they are AI, what you will see, and that sharing is their choice.
- Never pressure a client to use the tools, to share anything, or to buy anything.
- Make no claims about outcomes, and no claims that the work cures, treats or replaces anything.
- Keep appropriate professional boundaries, and never exploit a client financially, emotionally or sexually.
- Keep accurate records of your work, as your own profession requires.
- Speak about other facilitators, clients and The Architect honestly.
- Co-operate fully and promptly with any complaint or review.
12. Complaints, suspension and removal
- Anyone can raise a concern about a facilitator by writing to signal@codexofthearchitect.com.
- We tell you about any complaint that concerns you, hear your side, and decide fairly. The outcome may be no action, advice, conditions on your status, suspension, or removal of the title.
- Where a client may be at risk, we may suspend your status at once while we look into it.
- We may remove your status if you break this agreement in a serious way, or keep breaking it after we have asked you to stop, or if your insurance or professional standing lapses.
- If your status is suspended or removed, your clients keep their accounts and everything in them, and their sharing with you ends.
13. Ending this agreement
- You can end this agreement at any time by writing to signal@codexofthearchitect.com. Your practice seat stops at the end of the month you have paid for.
- We can end it with 30 days' written notice, or at once under section 12.
- When it ends: you stop using the title and mark within 14 days; you stop inviting clients; your access to shared client material ends; and sections 6 (for anything you still hold), 9, 14 and 15 continue to apply.
14. Limitation of liability
- The tools are provided as they are. We work to keep them accurate and available, and we make no promise that they will suit every client or never be unavailable.
- You are responsible for your own work with clients and for the decisions you make, and for claims that arise from them.
- Our total liability to you under this agreement is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Neither side is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit or business.
- Nothing in this agreement limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
15. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law stated in The Architect's terms of use, and disputes are decided in the courts named there.
16. Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement. We give you at least 30 days' notice of any change that affects you, and you may end the agreement before the change takes effect. The version number and date at the top show which version applies.
